Select hockey is back in action this season. We couldn’t be more excited. Everyone from the U18 cohort is encouraged to come tryout. Tryouts will be held Thursday October 14 and 21 at 8pm.
There is a $10 fee per tryout to cover our ice fees. Please bring exact change.
We play 20-30 games over the course of the season, including up to three tournaments. Generally the U18 Selects don’t practice but we’ll likely have a one or two at the start of the season just to get everyone used to skating together.
The team is made up of 15-17 players (including the all important goalies). We understand that some players won’t be able to make every game because of work or school and that’s okay. Everyone misses some games, that is why we have an A.P. roster. A.P’s are players that did not make the team, but show promise and worked hard during the tryouts. A.P.’s can be called up to fill in for a missing roster player. To qualify as an A.P., the player must come out to at least one of the initial tryouts. A.P.‘s pay a set fee per game, generally $20.
Our initial fees for the season are $400 per player. Select fees include ice for home and away games, referees, and tournaments. Jersey and socks are extra. Jersey rental is $45 for the season. Players who have a Select jersey from a previous season (the high quality reversible ones) will not have to rent a jersey, provided that their number doesn’t conflict with a returning player. In the event of a conflict they will need to rent a jersey.
All who come to the tryouts will be notified of their status via a personal email from the coaches.
