Coronation Minor Hockey relies on the volunteers who step forward to run this association, particularly our Coaches, Trainers, and Convenors. Our members appreciate all you do. In order to assure we run a high quality, safe program Coronation Minor Hockey and our governing body Alliance Hockey requires volunteers to acquire some minimum qualifications (see below)
The Head coaching requirements have changed as a new division, Minor Novice, has been created.

Planning a Safe Return to Hockey
This is a new certification required for this year, It is designed to help the coaches transition back on to the ice.
The course is available online and must be completed by all bench staff this year:

Vulnerable Sector Scan (VSS)
First time volunteers must have a Vulnerable Sector Scan before December 1 of their first season. NEW - Obtain your Vulnerable Sector Scan Online
here (a visit to the Police station is no longer required). If you have continuously coached with Coronation an annual Criminal Offence Declaration (download
here) confirming that the status of your Vulnerable Sector Scan is unchanged will be accepted for each of your second and third seasons. In the fourth year we ask that you obtain a new VSS-CRC.
The Volunteer letter for obtaining a discounted VSS/CRC is available
here.
Respect in Sports:
Respect in Sports (formerly Speak-Out) is a course outlining coaching expectations. This can only be completed online
here. The cost will be reimbursed with the confirmation of successful completion.
Hockey Canada Certifications:
All Head Coaches must have Coach Stream (CS), CS 2 or CS 1 for Minor Novice only. This is designed for House League Head Coaches and other coaching staff involved on the ice. There is now an on-line portion which is module based. This must be completed before a member can apply to take the classroom portion or on-ice session required for the CS program. A PDF outlining how to complete the online portion can be downloaded
here: Hockey Canada Hockey University Clinic Registration Overview (2017-2018). The TDC rep will let coaches know any additional steps required and arrange clinic attendance.
As an advanced alternative to CS, coaches may opt for a Development Stream (DS) clinic. This course involves 22 hours of classroom instruction, and 2 hours of on-ice instruction, held over a 2 day period.
Clinic Information:
TDC Clinic Schedule: Coronation personnel must attend clinics in Hamilton where possible. Those choosing to attend an out of town clinic will be personally responsible for any costs incurred. Clinic schedules will be posted soon.
TDC Clinic Application - Applications must be completed and submitted prior to the indicated registration cut-off date for each clinic. Applications can be emailed our Training & Development Coordinator (
[email protected]). You will be contacted when both your enrollment and the clinic schedule have been confirmed. You will then receive a clinic information sheet via email. You must take this information sheet to the clinic with you. Click
here to access the application in a format that can be edited and emailed.
