Coronation Minor Hockey relies on the volunteers who step forward to run this association, particularly our Coaches, Trainers, and Convenors. Our members appreciate all you do. In order to assure we run a high quality, safe program Coronation Minor Hockey and our governing body Alliance Hockey requires volunteers to acquire some minimum qualifications (see below)

With the New Hockey Canada Database, we ask that all Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Trainers. register themselves through the Coaches Online Registration portion of the registration portal. Please include your interest in coaching a selects team in the volunteer questionnaire portion of the registration. 

The Head coaching requirements have changed as a new division, U9, has been created.

All Coaches and Trainers must register as Bench Staff through the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) in any divisions where they are interested in coaching.

Vulnerable Sector Scan (VSS)

First time volunteers must have a Vulnerable Sector Scan before December 1 of their first season. NEW - Obtain your Vulnerable Sector Scan Online here (a visit to the Police station is no longer required).

If you have continuously coached with Coronation an annual Criminal Offence Declaration (download here) confirming that the status of your Vulnerable Sector Scan is unchanged will be accepted for each of your second and third seasons. In the fourth year we ask that you obtain a new VSS-CRC.

Respect in Sports For Activity Leaders:
Respect in Sports (formerly Speak-Out) is a course outlining coaching expectations. This can only be completed online here. The cost will be reimbursed with the confirmation of successful completion. Please contact the Treasurer to request reimbursement. 

Hockey Canada Certifications:

Registration for all the training courses required for a U11 to U18 house league coaches are accessed here: https://register.hockeycanada.ca/home.   This includes Gender Identity and Expression and all coaching courses. To access the courses, select the "Register for Clinics" tab at the top of the HC website: Choose ONTARIO HOCKEY FEDERATION and ALLIANCE HOCKEY in the two search bars.  You will need to register with your Hockey Canada (Spordle) account. 

All U9 Head Coaches must complete both a) HU- Online Coach 1/ Coach 2 online module-based course before registering for b) Coach Level 1 classroom/ on-ice course. The HU online component must be completed before a member can apply to take the classroom / on-ice session. 


All U11 to U18 Head Coaches must complete:
a) HU- Online Coach 1/ Coach 2 online module-based course
b) HU- Online Specialty Skills- HU- ONLINE Checking course.
Both online courses must be completed before registering for c) Coach LEVEL 2 classroom/ on ice course.
