PrintRowan's Law

To all Coronation players, parents, and coaches,

Rowan’s Law came into effect July 1, 2019 to create awareness of concussion, change the culture on concussion, and provide safe sport participation.

The Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) has informed us that in order to register/participate in hockey each season, every Player, Team Official and On-Ice Official (and parent as well if player is under 18) must:

 1) Review the Concussion Awareness Resources :

· Go to https://www.ontario.ca/page/rowans-law-concussion-safety;

· click on #3 on the menu (Rowan’s Law: Concussion Awareness Resources);

· click on the link at the top of that section that says “Review the Concussion Awareness Resources (if you are an athlete, parent, coach,..)”.

· review the information on that page, including the E-Booklet. There are links for booklets appropriate for ages 10 & under; 11-14; 15 & up.

 2) Review the OHF Concussion Code of Conduct:

The OHF Concussion Code of Conduct is included in Appendix A on the OHF Rowan’s Law Acknowledgement Form. This form is available on the Coronation website by clicking  here. Download and review the document. Forms will also be made available at Coronation.

 3) BOTH player and parent must sign the player’s OHF Rowan’s Law Acknowledgement Form (one per player) once you have both completed the above. Keep it in a safe place, and we will provide instructions on where to submit the form at a later date.

NOTE: Do not download the form in the Concussion Awareness Resources section of the Ontario Government webpage. OHF has its own form which will be made available on the Coronation website and at Coronation Arena.

The OHF is in full support of the intent of Rowan’s Law. We thank you for your cooperation in advancing concussion awareness and making Coronation an even safer place to play hockey.
